In The Beginning

In The Beginning

We've been learning about the different versions of creation stories because we want to learn more about the different variations.

I've rewritten the Maori creation stories in my own words.

In the beginning there wasn’t anything but darkness. Not even a single thing moved or whispered. Later on in the darkness there was a shake and a tiny curl began to form. The light blew away the darkness and there in the fogginess was Ranginui the sky and Papatūānuku the earth.

Ranginui woke up and looked around him and saw Papatūānuku. He was like sheesh, what a banger and then Papatūānuku was like sheesh wanna marry me and then Ranginui said, hell yeah.

I think my learning went well because I have learnt a lot of different things about the Maori creation stories.

What's your favourite creation story?
